Carys Dawson

I was born in the Vale of Clwyd and I have always loved its landscape and it forms the basis of my inspiration. It has a huge variety of scenery which constantly changes with the seasons, the weather and the light.

I paint in a semi-abstract style. I love to draw so there is usually a drawn element in my work. I recall scenes that I have studied, sketched and drawn to form the basis of my work.

I am largely self taught since doing an A Level in the late 60's. I find the artist community on the internet to be helpful and inspiring but try to develop my own style and interpretation.

I use acrylics and watercolour. I particularly enjoy the use of mixed media and use a selection of inks, pastels, crayons and charcoal. Occasionally I add collage.
